چکیده

Growing interest and penetration of wireless networking technologies is underlining new challenges in the design and optimization of communication protocols. Traditionally, protocol architectures follow strict layering principles, which ensure interoperability, fast deployment, and efficient implementations. However, lack of coordination between layers limits the performance of such architectures due to the specific challenges posed by wireless nature of the transmission links. To overcome such limitations, cross-layer design has been proposed. Its core idea is to maintain the functionalities associated to the original layers but to allow coordination, interaction and joint optimization of protocols crossing different layers. This chapter introduces the reader with the notion of the cross-layer design, outlining motivations and requirements, presents the main building blocks enabling collaboration between layers, and compares available signaling architectures. Then, after mentioning current status of standardization activities in the field, it presents novel architectural solutions involving cross-layer design which are proposed in the framework of next generation network communications.

HY POXIA AND I TS INFLUEN CES ON THE CARDIOVASCULAR AND RESPIRATORY SYSTEMS OF SPONTANEOUSLY BREATHING CATS

Effects of acute systemic hypoxia on the cardiovascular system (CYS) and respiration of spontaneously breathing cats were studied in two conditions. 1): Hypoxic air (6-8% 02 in N2) was given to the animal to induce systemic hypoxia for 20 minutes. Hyperventilation at this condition lowered arterial C02 tension (PaC02 hypocapnia). 2): In the second run, induction of hypocapnia was prevented ...

A TS Fuzzy Model Derived from a Typical Multi-Layer Perceptron

In this paper, we introduce a Takagi-Sugeno (TS) fuzzy model which is derived from a typical Multi-Layer Perceptron Neural Network (MLP NN). At first, it is shown that the considered MLP NN can be interpreted as a variety of TS fuzzy model. It is discussed that the utilized Membership Function (MF) in such TS fuzzy model, despite its flexible structure, has some major restrictions. After modify...
